iprox acquires AfvalWijzer from AddComm Group

AfvalWijzer has been acquired from AddComm Group B.V. by iprox, a provider of content management systems and part of Böschen IT Investments, which in turn operates under Böschen Investments.

This marks the sixth acquisition in just over two years for the Böschen Family Office, which is pursuing ambitious growth targets through a buy and build strategy supported by Marktlink.

AfvalWijzer is a SaaS (software as a service) communication platform available via app and web, designed to improve the efficiency of waste collection. It serves municipalities and municipal waste collection services through a monthly subscription model. The platform connects local governments, residents and businesses, acting as an essential source of information. Municipalities can use the app to communicate service schedules, share waste separation tips, and provide updates on changes or disruptions. Users can also receive automated reminders about upcoming waste collection days. In total, 142 municipalities are connected to AfvalWijzer. In 2022 alone, 1.8 million unique households logged in — representing 37% of all households in the Netherlands.

AddComm Group B.V. is an IT company specialising in automating, digitising and improving customer communications. As part of a strategic reorientation, the company decided to divest the platform to focus on its core activities. The new owner was found in iprox, which is actively growing under Böschen IT Investments. Böschen is currently pursuing a targeted buy and build strategy with a focus on vertical software companies and IT Managed Service Providers across the European market. Previous acquisitions include BizQiT, Comsenso, Encaps, iprox and IT-Concern. While the first transaction was handled internally, Böschen has since turned to Marktlink for further deal execution.

The Böschen Family Office: Over the past three generations, the Böschen family has built a dynamic entrepreneurial legacy across a range of industries, including trade, manufacturing, retail and real estate, in both Europe and the United States. Böschen IT Investments serves as the dedicated investment vehicle of the family’s single-family office. Companies that join the group continue to operate independently while maintaining their own identity and culture. At the same time, they benefit from shared knowledge and synergies in procurement, HR and finance.

Matthijs Dessing, Managing Director of iprox, is enthusiastic about the acquisition: “This transaction strengthens our position in the public and semi-public sectors, particularly in the field of government communication and content management.”
